Patients view of how psychiatry and other treatments work for mental illness. Don't forget to look up "Benny Hinn" the Master Of Placebo on youtube. The video "benny hinn in south africa" is the best example of my point. Here it is:

Psychiatry, ECT, psychology, psychotherapy, religion, exorcism, magic crystals, witch doctors, faith healing all placebo.

  • Yeah, they should do more to stop, I agree there. I'm pretty sure Ben Goldacre is doing more than enough to stop pharmas withholding negative trials. That's UK though, I'm not sure about US.

  • @MiroslavMalesevic I don't like Ben Goldacre because he's a psychiatrist. He has done one or two articles on psychiatric drugs but very few compared to his attacks on homeopathy. On his website its very hard to find any criticism of psychiatry and psychiatry still uses Electroconvulsive Therapy. Imagine what he would say if alternative medicine was using ECT?

He would probably be lobbying govenment to get it banned but because psychiatry does it he stays quiet.

  • i guess you have to take things into your own hands. there is a lot of injustice in the world.

  • it is about money money money. no one likes psychologist and psychiatrist ignore all. they are all sick. everyone is sick. people who come to power and abuse their power.

  • @MiroslavMalesevic Not all of them do I'm afraid. The study I quoted was only done in 2008 and Dr Turner (psychiatrist) worked in the FDA and it was only then that he noticed a large number of negative trials. He said up until that point he never knew there were so many because psychiatrists only see the ones in the journals.

Also to say "they don't endorse it" isn't good enough. They should do more to stop it otherwise they are being complicit. Whats the point of EBM if they pick & choose.

  • @caketheory That's old news. Doctors and psychiatrists (whom you call quacks) DO KNOW about pharmaceutical companies hiding the negative clinical trials and they don't endorse it at all.

  • @mrjedidja There's no law to stop them from selectively reporting data.

If you go on google and type "Dr Erick Turner science watch" he explains how its done. He also published a study in the New England Journal of Medicine which looked at clinical trials involving 12 different antidepressants. He found out that once the trials were sent to the FDA psychiatric journals were allowed to selectively report data.

  • @caketheory Academic journals are not allowed to selectively report data. If they do it, it's a fraud.

  • @gugustat There's nothing wrong with comparing religious placebo with psychiatry because psychiatric drugs like antidepressants are infact tested against placebo in their randomized controlled trials.

Placebo is placebo whether its religious or medical etc. And I don't think your going to learn much reading psychiatic journals because they are allowed to selectively report data.

  • Do you even listen to what your saying? seriously compared religious placebo with psychiatry. OK I agree it's funny to watch you telling crap but try to make valide correlation. moreover is it normal you confund freudian psychanalyse with psychology (when your title is psychiatry). and also try to read valide sources like academic journal article (google scholar is your friend) insteed of refering to youtube -_-". and lying to people as you do (ie: flate) has nothing to do with placebo effect.
