This is a short promotional video I did on the U.S. Blind Championship, a very small and largely neglected national event.

  • when it says under 1200/1400/1600/1800 thats elo rating right? So what was the highest rated blind contestant in that tournament?? Its amazing what kind of brain power they have to compete in chess without sight!! and you are right this is definitely a neglected event! ive never heard of it. its a shame.

  • Yes, these are ELO ratings, although they're assigned by the U.S. Chess Federation, as opposed to FIDE. As for the actual ratings of the competitors in this event, the highest one, for a totally blind player, was held by Alexander Barrasso, the 2nd-place finisher, at 1738. Other similar ratings have been held by such players as Agan Hajric at 1787, and Jay Leventhal at 1717.

  • XD, you demonstrate your ignorance and stupidity quite clearly, I'm afraid. Many blind and visually impaired people generally use adaptive technology, in one form or another, in their daily lives. This naturally includes special watches that speak the time at the touch of a button, or others whose faces open to allow the wearer to feel the hour and minute hands, determining the time by touch. That said, I hope you never lose your sight, lest you "make no damn sense" in living your life. Dumbass!

  • I wana see a blind chess player vs a non-blind chess player.

  • @supergreatsuper My friend's set has a small nob on the top of all the black pieces while the white pieces do not have the feature...

  • How do you tell between black and white pieces?

  • respect for those people... and for the promoters as well.........

  • Big up to anyone involved in this kind ofprojects/works.

Not only chess is one of the most complete board games, the most interesting and also the top one of all board games, but supporting and maintaining such an initiative as hard as this one is, is just somewhat ahead of amazing. Period !

So my deepest respect to everyone !

  • This video was just amazing i loved it.. =)

  • Why is that guy wearing a watch when he's blind? lol, makes no damn sense! XD
