In which I sing you some Christmas songs, and some Zelda songs. And some other stuff.
Everything you hear is my voice. Yes, this has taken me months to make. Generally speaking, autotune has not been used to build the music here - I've used it now and then, but it hasn't been applied across the whole track, just for a single note here and there where I went off-key on the actual lyrics track. I'll go into more detail if anyone's interested, but the point is the actual chords and general shape of the music was done for reals, by re-recording each line until it was right. For some of the impossible bass notes (like during "so the Snowman's in the clear" towards the end) and chirpy voies (such as the backing to "he's been wiggled by the Christmas ninjas," also towards the end), all I did was speed up or slow down the recording.
Have fun trying to recognise the songs in the medley, I bet you anything you won't get all of them. No prizes for recognising the Zelda theme - although I've never heard anyone put the two versions together like this before and I've no idea why, it works so well - or A Tribe of Lowly Snowmads Traipse (trad.)
Outside camera work, quite a bit of editing, hand puppet and chin (you'll see) by Shaun O'Neill. Thanks Shaun!
This was made as a Christmas present and special thankyou to everyone who's been reading our Santa stories every year on the Something Awful forums. If you haven't been, you might like to especially if you've been wondering who Mecha Snatter is, or what wiggling he is. The latest story is here, http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3452289 and the others are all linked to at the bottom of the first post.
Here's the mp3! http://tindeck.com/listen/pfhy
This song is based around the story from our third year, in which Mecha Snatter was built out of runcible spoons, and could only be defeated by a particular breed of nerd called Cranium Nerds, who hated Christmas but eventually saved it. Also the Snowmen were cursed as an accidental offshot of the heroic actions of The Snowman the previous year, and there was a Good mecha Snatter with an unknown pilot. That's basically all you need to know.
Merry Christmas! :)
How many different vocal lines do you have going on at one time generally in your acapella songs? I want to try arranging for acapella myself :)

@euqsec I don't have a rule I stick to, but I'd say I usually have about 10-20 tracks at once. I'm alarmed to report that this song has 45 active tracks, and it's safe to say that in the noisy bits a lot of them are being used simultaneously. That mght be overkill, but then everything about this song was done on a bigger scale than I'm used to.
