As George Carlin said about the guy who raped an 84 year old woman."Hey, she was asking for it. She had on a tight bathrobe!"

Thank you so much for speaking out- The rape of men by women is an egregious crime that should be viewed as criminal and unacceptable, not comedy. The political climate is hostile towards male victims, pushing propaganda (contrary to the research) making it appear that women are only victims, not perpetrators of sexual violence against men.

well if clowns are used

A large brazilian chimpanzee raping laura bush would be funny

Rape is only funny when its a Aryan goy shegetz or evil goy shiksa. Its all about context. The only time rape isn't acceptable is when it happens to us Jeeeeeeeeews, because we are gods little pets. You can trust me on this, we own MTV.

Rape is NEVER funny. Clockwork Orange, for one, is DISGUSTING!
-
@DarkMagic27 "Rape is never funny" That's not for you to decide. What you really mean is that rape should never be funny which is an entirely different stance. Comedy does not adhere to some kind of moral law, its sole purpose is for the laughs.

Rape is never funny. I hate it when people use the term in a casual term in a sentence, like "I got raped in that test" I get pissed when people say things like "rape is awesome" or "I would loved to be raped"...idiots need to pick up a dictionary
It's ridiculous to say that men can't get raped. They DO get raped, just not as often as women. But it happens, and it's just as bad! And not all men who haven't been raped are laughing at this.
P.S. I'm a girl and I haven't been raped (so far)

No... I don't find "jokes" about men getting raped funny either. That's just disgusting. :S

Personally, I don't find rape funny. Portrayals, jokes, and casual remarks all make me feel very uncomfortable.
And yes, there is a huge double standard. I think it stems from the belief that men can't or don't get raped.

I was going to mention 40 Days and 40 Nights, but I see you captured that one here, Latum. I was genuinely offended that the filmmakers used rape as a plot device in that fashion, because of the double standard you discussed here. If Shannyn Sossamon's character had been the victim and Josh Hartnett's character the perpetrator, there might have been riots. As it was? Laughs.
No, I'm saying rape is never funny but because it happens far less often to men they tend to be the ones who laugh at it or use the term in casual conversation.
Example: "Yah, playing (random FPS game) and we totally raped the other team."
Get a group of girls talking about it some time, you will be amazed at how many of them have been raped or sexually assaulted.
I wasn't saying you yourself don't care, just that most men don't understand how painful it is to throw that term around in jest.

@LadyCasa Bullshit. You think all the men are laughing at the screen when they watch a guy get raped in '40 days and 40 Nights' or 'Wedding Crashers' etc. and the women are just sitting there and tearing up? No. They are laughing as well.
And as it happens, I know quite a few people who were raped, both men and women. I'm aware of its prevalence and its effect on someone.

@LadyCasa Having said that, my argument was not that rape is never funny. Some of the female rape victims I know have laughed at off colour jokes including death, torture and yes, rape. My position is not one of banning all portrayals of rape in the media that aren't serious.

@LadyCasa My point is, a lot of women get incredibly angry when rape against women is even implied in a movie, yet laugh along when it literally happens to men. And what you said suggested you think its okay to laugh at portrayals of male rape because it occurs less.
"Something like 2% of rapes happen to men."
Why would you say that if you weren't defending that viewpoint? It happens less to men... so what?
