This song is often played at Christmas, and I do believe you have to have a memory storehouse of a lot of holidays with loved people who are deceased or otherwise gone to appreciate how poignant it is. I never get tired of hearing it.

this is one of the most powerful songs that i have ever heard. i simply cannot get enough of it, even though it evokes a profound senses of sadness and loneliness in me - as if i am expreincing the end of a relationship w/a significant other, as if everything is fleeting. but then i think of all the amazing things in my life, my girlfriend, my family, my work and my health and then i realize that i am neither alone nor enduring a "fleeting" experience in regard to anything - and then i smile.

I did a sign language performance with some other people like, 6 years ago. We used white gloves and we did it in the darkness under a black light so it was like floating hands doing sign language :) I still remember the lyrics, but sadly not the hand motions :(

This song kept me from going over the edge when my husband passed away.

I agree, it is a fabulously beautiful song. I usually do not care for covers. Gord wrote this song and sang it so wonderfully, magically. I heard this version just a couple years ago, and love it ALMOST as much as the original. Sarah has a gorgeous voice. Your slide show highlights the song really well. Like they were made for each other.

This song means the world to me!
My dad passed away 4 years ago; when he took his last breath this song was playing on the radio. We played it at his funeral. He passed away December 19th and was buried December 22nd. Every year at christmas I play this song and cry!!!!!
I love this song. And I think I recognize one of the pictures you used in the slideshow. My classmate used it for her avatar in Yahoo Messanger once, I think
