"Steve Reich has won his first Pulitzer Prize for the 2007 work, Double Sextet. Commissioned by eighth blackbird, the 22-minute piece received its world premiere on March 26, 2008 at the University of Richmonds Modlin Center for the Arts in Virginia....Double Sextet can be played in two ways; either with twelve musicians or with six playing against a recording of themselves." I heard this piece last year, and it was pretty dang killer. Definitely definitely definitely worth buying :D

It's good to see this. I caught your Pittsburgh performance in February, and also played some gongs with Mr. Duvall & co. on "Formations" at the Percussion Effect workshop.
And I see that you'll be in Richmond for the residency - any performances of the Reich piece during the Richmond visits? I live an hour away now, and I'd like to catch it live if I can.

I emailed the PR company for eigthblackbird and I think they are trying to get it out at some point in 2009 but dont quote me on that! I can't wait to hear the full piece but alas its not coming to London anytime soon.
