Jospeh Smith believed that the Book of Mormon took place in Central America at least since 1842.
"we have found another important fact relating to the truth of the Book of Mormon. Central America, or Guatemala, is situated north of the Isthmus of Darien and once embraced several hundred miles of territory from north to south.—The city of Zarahemla, burnt at the crucifixion of the Savior, and rebuilt afterwards, stood upon this land"

I think this is the best book of mormon movie ever made so far. What a wonderful story! A family conflict, a romance, a good villain, and history all rolled into one movie. Not to mention the phenominal ending! It makes me all emotional every time I see it.

@lds9999 today many of the elders of the native tribes when speaking of diety call Him the Great grandparent , father creator , or spirit father they seem to keep to the history and don't ver off to far from it . the words Joseph scribed off that were shown the pro. Anton were compared to the language of the hopi indians in our time and they were the same very little diference between them .

@IchigoStar16 Put aside teachings for a moment , You alone will know if you have recieved salvaton . By way of Personal Revalation thru the Holy Ghost . yes thru the Atonment of Christ leads to salvation . but the holy spirit witnesses unto us that we are given salvation , a person may go all thru life believing he is save till he recieves witness thru the Spirit then he goes the rest of his life assured Knowing that he has recieved salvation .

Oh how often people will beat against eh bush, only to get pricked. Think than, of a toddler who tells a Doctor of Mathematics that his principles are wrong, are not the same things happening in religion? I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I love and honor and respect people of all other faiths. Can you not afford me the same? Speak no ill in this place, but lift up one another in our pursuit of holiness through Jesus Christ. Peace be unto you all.

You are so angry.. this is not how Jesus was. He loved his people. Wouldn't you think that He had other people who were of his fold in the world? How could He forsake these people? I believe that Jesus loved everyone and wouldn't let the people in America dwindle in unbelief for so long. God sends his prophets to all nations to bring back his sons and daughters to the gospel. This book only testifies more of Christ's love for us. Why would you oppose that....it is a message of His love.

@LDSapologist71 The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to add its testimony to that of the Bibles New Testament and to testify that Jesus is the Christ [ישוע המשיח / משיח בן דוד] The only begotten of the Father John 3:16 savior of the world and to give the world the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

this film, based on true events, is very well done.

actually "testa"...means a witness, and "ment" means three.
it does not mean covenant, but standing as a witness means that we obey our part of the covenant.
-
which 2 are you referring to?

Its the testament of two peoples. Israel wasnt the only place in the world god ministered to.
lds9999; I am an investigator and a lot of people have made many logical points but one thing that is never clear when I ask is how you believe you obtain salvation.
I believe Jesus is the ONLY way and when I point out scripture that contradicts like in the D&C for example; One of the Doctrines on God.
Alma 18:26-28&22:8-11 states God is a Spirit and D&C 130:22 says differently I would appreciate it if you could explain this.
I never get a straight answer its just somethin that troubles me.

Happy to answer your questions. In the Alma scriptures that you give, Ammon is a missionary and teaching a new group of people. In that discussion, he knows that the group believes in a "Great Spirit", but does not necessarily believe that being is "God". Therefore, Ammon refers to God as that "Great Spirit" when introducing the basic beliefs to help the people understand.

This is similar to when Paul in Acts talks to the Greeks about their "Unknown God". He is not saying that God is "unknown"; instead, he is just using their terminology to help introduce the discussion about God.
Does that help?

In response to your other question, it is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved. God has given us commandments to follow in this life, but wre are all imperfect. Therefore, only through coming to Christ and accepting Him as our Savior can we receive salvation.

Your prophet is in hell right now burning. You know who says so??? Jesus CHRIST!!
Revelation ch 22 verse 18
"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophesy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city which are described in this book." Jesus Christ.

When John wrote that in Revelation, he was referring to his book of Revelation. The Bible had not yet been compiled and wouldn't be for quite some time! In fact, many mainstream scholars now believe and have presented evidence that Revelation was the first book written by John. Does that mean that the other books written by John, including his gospel, go against this warning?
Of course not b/c it was written about Revelation, not about the Bible, which didn't even exist yet. Also see Deut. 4:2.
