Ebay is like an abusive spouse that want's you to believe it's your fault when they beat you.

Building a small list on ebay is useful if your backend product is high margin and over a G.The diseconomy of scale are at play.I eliminate the 3 top paid tiers of your sales funnel and give people what others are paying for in return for a higher conversion rate and and more money NOW.

You are right, we need and alternative to Ebay.

Lower you max bids though that way you rip off the sellers and make the sellers go broke or get them to start looking for alternatives.

Ebay does suck because they don't have real competition.
