Ruby Osorio, of St. Stephens High School, recites "I Am!" by John Clare.
Ruby was one of 28 students that were semi-finalists and finalists in the statewide Poetry Out Loud competition at the Museum of History in Raleigh in a program coordinated by the NC Arts Council.
Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud encourages high school students to memorize and recite poetry while mastering public speaking skills, building self-confidence and learning about their literary heritage.
You are really good! I liked listening to this. I've read this poem a million times, and I didn't truly understand it until recently. I realized the poem is a suicide note of sorts. Really sad poem, but loved it all the same. What do you think?

Wow, that is a lot of emotion. I'm reciting this poem for my class and this really helps to compare.
