What some of the insensitive comments below reminded me of was the fact that almost noone from the Axis nations today regrets their aggression against Yugoslavia, the Soviet Union, Greece, etc etc etc.

It's this reality which should predominate the commemoration services in Russia today, and not the ideological apologies for Russophobia among Europe's "fraternal working classes" as was seen in the Soviet era.
