  • Crif Dogs has a telephone booth inside of it. If you walk into the phone booth and pick up the phone someone will answer and say "yes." You say "table for 2," and a door will open allowing you to see that there is a bar inside.

This bar serves $12 cocktails that are meticulously created. I don't know if this bar was open when you went there in 2007, but I thought I'd mention it. Highly recommended experience. I like to freak people out by taking them there. The bar is called Please Don't Tell.

  • @calisway That's good to know. I will definitely check it out.

  • The Pyramid was one of the last "underground" places to hang out in NYC.

  • The "old" Pyramid was a hoot. It really was a sub "culture". Even the East Village has become pretty glossy now. Things change.

  • Only the lobby of the Filmore East survives (now an Emigrants Bank branch) the entrance to which you see in the video. The beautiful auditorium, which stood behind the line of shops that you see along the street, was razed (I think in 1996) for the construction of condominiums. The auditorium later had an aluminum dome with a planetarium light shooter in the middle when it was the dance floor of the Saint disco in the '80s.

  • Hurray for Veselka!!! I love that place.

I recommend Mamoun's on St. Mark's over Chickpea.

  • WOW! One amazing classic video, Fantastic! Look at all that

information, both in, and next to the vlog! * * * * *

{Nervous Nellie me, I'd be too CHICKEN to go without somebody like YOU to lead the way! lol}x)

  • One day the glory will return. Keep the East Village shitty!

  • Talk about things changing. When I moved to SMP in '77 it was very quiet, especially at night. There were times when not a single person would pass by for a half hour. The only people I would see regularly were the two latinos who sold joints to the guys going to and from the Saint Marks Baths.

  • Yeah, there's a lot of St Mark's place in here.
