Drive the 61 mile gravel road to the edge of the Grand Canyon and look down 3,000 ft to the Colorado River. View the Grand Canyon from a perspective that not many people see. This Northern Access road is best driven with an SUV. A car is not recommended; you will scrape bottom and may need a tire change, or new shocks when you get home. It is fairly easy going until the last mile which is very rocky and bumpy. Top off your gas tank, bring water and food, there are no services.(120mi RT) 4 wheel drive will help if you go after a rain, because there may be water on the road. The road starts just West of Fredonia, AZ, off of HWY 389. Another road is available from St. George, UT. National Park campground at the edge. Ranger on duty, nice outhouse, no other services. Pink Jeep tours will take you here from your Las Vegas hotel ($$$). Don't miss this!
