I own the 5th Ave Kingpin. Love playing it. Wouldn't trade it for a taylor........Great price too, I predict, like anything the prices wll go up and the early Godin Archtops will only appreciate in value. Would also like to own a Seagull someday.
No way this thing sucks. I've played the king pin and the neck is great. Awesome tones and just the right size. I'm no player by any means but if I'm going to fiddle around I may as well have a guitar that offers a quality sound at an affordable price. No dead spots either.
I will be getting the acoustic version in a couple of weeks and I cannot wait. It will be a nice addition to my moderately priced collection that includes a DeArmond 155 jazz box.
@thewashout its range is limited in the higher tones. its just not as bright as other acoustics. mainly because there is no sound hole directly behind the strings. all hollow body arch tops are going to be mellow on the high end. you may not even notice. i use flat wounds so maybe lighter strings will make up the difference.
Juat bought one of these and it's very pretty, both visually and aurally. Great tone and it feels great in your hands. The neck is silky smooth too. My only knock is it's not exactly a lively guitar. It's missing some of the brightness of some other hollowbodies, but dont let that dissuade you. It's very nice, especially for the $.
