* WARNING * SPOILERS *

Hello, this is the first chapter out of 12 or so of my playthrough of sanitarium. Due to some technical issues with fraps, the audio and video lags in the cutscenes, so those won't be included.

Where am I? Who am I? Our protagonist wakes up in an asylum, having no idea about what is going on.

If you are interested in the cutscenes however, I suggest you go check out this user's page: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Joudas

  • Will this game work with newer computers?

  • I'm not entirely sure. When I recorded this, I was using a computer which had a 1.8GHz single-core, ATI Radeon 9700 PRO and 512MB or 1GB of RAM (DDR1) and it worked fine for me. I also used Windows XP. Haven't tested it on my new machine however.

To add, I don't think it'll work on Vista. Try using XP if anything.

  • is it scary in a 20+ year old man's point of view?

  • No, and Sanitarium isn't really a scary game to boot. It's slightly creepy.

  • lol when the dude fell...XD

  • i remember playing this game. lol. this game was creepy as hell! i sear i will buy this if it came for the xbox 360 . i was never so traumatize then i played silent hill.

  • What a fantastic game,more than a game,an allegory of life itself.

The second level is my favorite, the music is so fitting as to chord with the innocent abandoned to the fate of accepting of being turned into freaks and their sincerity used by the scarecrow and the "mother".

the main protagonist that we play with and his performance is worthy an Oscar at least! :P.

Its fantastic, one of the most memorable game i have ever played and so truly depicts a man and his plight towards freedom.

  • @Swoftu for $10 I'm TOTALLY getting it! Thank you SO much for the link!!!

  • @WhatWouldZappaSay They already did, it's on gog.com.

  • I wish they'd re-release this thing for newer PCs/operating systems/update the game/theme. I was enthralled with it 12 years ago and played it through twice. Only got bored at the end with the Aztec segment. The rest, rocked. And I'm not a 'dark' game player, I'm a Sims fan from beginning to - well - almost end. Don't like Sims3. :)

  • omg i remember playing this game for hours i wasfreaking beast at this game on our very first computer

  • Does anyone else think that the bad voice acting is a downside to this game? Everything is perfectly surreal, moody and byzantine except for the characters' voices. The gameplay experience will be so much better when you play it with dialogue text instead.

  • This game is still brilliant, even if it is glitchy on my XP machine. I love it!

  • That game is sooo dark... I love it.
