Appointed Sheriff, San Bernardino County, January 2009.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department 1978 to January 2009
Assistant Sheriff/Operations 2005 to January 2009
Oversee patrol, contract cities, detectives, specialized operations and narcotic divisions. Member of the Office of the Sheriff, responsible for the Department's budget, long range planning, personnel, policy, legal review, and the overall operation of the Sheriff's Department. Direct liaison with County Department Heads, Chief of Administration Officer and elected officials.
Deputy Chief/Region 1 2003-2005
Operational responsibility for the Valley Region of the Sheriff's Department. Area of responsibility included eight patrol and contract cities, review of performance evaluations, budget, and personnel. As a member of the Sheriff's Executive Staff reviewed and implemented Department policies, reviewed budgetary goals and objectives.
Sheriff's Captain/Bureau of Administration 2001-2003
Commander of the Sheriff's Bureau of Administration. Managed the Department's business office overseeing a budget of $329 million. Bureau responsibilities included all Departmental capital improvements, mid-year budget adjustments, automotive, policy item preparations, liaison with Federal, State and local officials on all budgetary issues.
Chief of Police/Sheriff's Captain City of Rancho Cucamonga 1997-2001
Assigned as the Police Chief for the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Managed the Department's largest contract city.
Sheriff's Captain/Employee Services 1995-1997
Commander of the Department's personnel division.
Sheriff's Lieutenant 1989-1995
Assignments including Executive Officer at the Sheriff's training division, Chief of Police for Loma Linda and Grand Terrace, research and planning division and public affairs unit.
Sheriff's Sergeant 1986-1989
Assigned as the Department's Legislative Liaison Officer. Directed the legislative agenda for the Sheriff and the Department.
Sheriff's Detective 1984-1986
Assignments including background investigator and member of career criminal division (SWAT and specialized enforcement operations).
