Pittsburgh Pirate Manager John Russell is the current "laid-back" manager for the worst organization in sports. The Pirates have had 17 losing seasons, and continue to give away their players in trades that "only" help the other team.
John Russell shows no fire in the dugout, and that would be apparent in this comical video sketch of him during another "hard days work" while accepting a loss in the Pirate dugout.
What a funny caricature. Except, I don't believe that John Russell is deliberately managing poorly. I think he is working long hours. But, his record as a manager is 159-252 at this time, with a .387 percentage. I know the Pirates don't have as much talent as most major league teams. But nevertheless most small market teams win at a better clip than the Pirates under John Russell. So, I expect the owner or GM of the Pirates to give in to fans who want a different manager.
