Anil Agarwal, Executive Chairman, Sterlite Industries, is in a real hurry to prove his mettle and take the fight to his rival Kumar Mangalam Birla. With his big bang acquisition of US-based miner Asarco for $2.6 billion, Sterlite Industries Ltd, a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources Plc, has taken a big lead in copper, thus, racing past Kumar Mangalam Birla's non-ferrous metal producer Hindalco.
