@loveleon50 The Carpenters? yawn, and George Benson, a great jazz guitarist, sold out on this song, for the money!

This song is like many of the Beatles' songs.Their beauty is in the simplicity. Sure, you can cover them, you can add stuff, fluff them up, do a huge production number on them, but at the end of the day, really, the orignal simple song is brilliant, because that's the it was written. It's the same thing with Bonnie Bramlett singing "Superstar". Another absolute classic.

It doesn't get better than that....pure perfection!

This song is one of Leon Russell's true classics...which is saying a lot given his musical genius. I love his voice and his interpretation; and good on George Benson and the Carpenters for seeing the beauty of it and sharing it with the world.

Hey, don't knock the Carpenters. The only harm they did was make Leon a ton more money in royalties by popularizing his song. Now THAT'S what I call "sharing the wealth" the American way; i.e. no stealing involved, legalized or otherwise.

Is that a french horn being played?
Apples and oranges, you guys... both are great.... I just happen to prefer Leon's version of this and just about anything else. But Leon tends to make me goofy too so maybe I'm not a fair judge. Absolutely dreamy... the song too.
