RÓZSA Sinfonia concertante: Theme and Variations
SCHUBERT Symphony No. 2
Always in perfect harmony, Pinchas Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth play two "double concertos": Saint-Saëns homage to inspiration and creativity, and a Sinfonia concertante by Miklós Rózsa, the Oscar-winning film composer who was also working simultaneously on the score for Ben-Hur. Making his NAC Orchestra debut is Venezuelan Christian Vásquez, a rising star in the world of conducting, in this program that also includes a Beethoven-inspired symphony, written when Schubert was just 18.
Musically Speaking: Pre-Concert Chat at 7 p.m. (in English)
"From Double Indemnity to a Double Concerto" with writer and broadcaster Eric Friesen
You must check out Christian Vasquez doing Mahler's 2nd Symphony, Resurrection.. Its hard to find, but its worth it. I'm going to look for it now. Maestro Zuckerman is right about El Sistema. The Venezuelans are doing it right.
