how good is his live painting skill? Could he get the resolution without a camera?

Chuck Close isn't anything great to me. BUT, I do think he certainly says something important about technology and art, which is why he's rightfully famous. I think his late work conveys his concepts far better than his early work.

I never really respected Close's work until I saw his show that was on PBS, since then I have had tremendous respect for the guy as a person and also as an artist. It really takes a lot for a person to do what he has accomplished.
