  • sweet!!

  • @joey84084 I dunno, I've only really met one flamboyant gay dude, and that was before I joined the Navy. If you were to meet most of the gay people I know you probably wouldn't be able to pick which one is gay out of a line-up. Most gays are just like you or I, and DADT being repealed doesn't mean that glitter and ass-less chaps are going to be authorized in uniform.

  • @EnriqueLovinLife But at the same time, being around homosexuals is unpleasant. I'm not saying that I'm against homosexuality. But do they really have to be so flamboyant and in-your-face about it. We get it, you're different!

  • @RodrigueMoore Hopefully the DADT repeal sticks. As a Navy linguist myself I've seen a lot of gay linguists (and trust me, there are quite a few gays working intel compared to general deck and machinery rates) do some amazing things in their line of work. The attitude in the community is a lot more liberal than the rest of the military. It has to be that way because no one likes seeing a 3/3 linguist getting kicked out for DADT, and preventing war typically keeps our work load down ;)

  • @RodrigueMoore thats really a poor reason not to serve.. what about not promoting a war for the simple fact of the terror its bringing! Serving who? The military industrial complex?

Anyways.. Cool that you know so many languages! I bet there are hundreds of other linguist jobs..

  • I speak 11 languages, 5 fluently. Including Russian, Hebrew and Arabic. But I wont serve because 1. There's a Ban on self-respecting openly gay people in the military. 2. As long as the US refuses to ban discrimination against me, refuses to recognize my marriage I can't in good conscience serve. Only when MY freedom is secure, when my rights are guaranteed as an American citizen can I serve the US military & protect the rights of others. Get rid of DADT(Ban on Gays) & people like me can serve.
