In this six-minute video, Cynthia Bucci, M.D., a trauma anesthesiologist with the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, reflects upon her memories from a recent Haiti relief mission sponsored by the University of Maryland Medical Center. She discusses the great amount of preparations that took place before her team was deployed as well the role she played in her team upon arrival in the devastated country.
Dr. Bucci also talks about her reasons for wanting to be a part of the Shock Trauma relief missions. She describes the current living conditions experienced by both the Haitian people and members of the Shock Trauma relief team as "glorified camping" and praises the families and medical personnel she met during her trip for their resilience during such a chaotic time.
