Till the End of Time [Chapter 9 Part 2]

*Still laughing, the group decided to take a break from the water and play football on the beach.*

GABRIELLE: I call girls verse boys!

NICK: *Stares at her, disbelieving.* You really think you can beat us?

GABRIELLE: Of course we can, right girls?

*She turns to Paige and Brynn. They look unsure, but after Gabrielle's sharp look, they silently nod their heads.*

GABRIELLE: *To the boys.* Excuse us for a moment. We have to discuss...um... strategy.

*She turns away and walks Brynn and Paige out of earshot of Nick, Joe, and Kevin.*

PAIGE: Um, just wondering, but why did you tell the boys that we were going to beat them?

BRYNN: Yeah, I kinda suck at sports.

GABRIELLE: Come on guys, we can at least try! *Brynn and Paige still look unconvinced, so she tries a new tactic.* Look guys, this is football. It's very PHYSICAL, so if you wont play for the love of the game, then think of it this way: You get to put your hands all over Joe and Kevin.*

BRYNN: *Brightens.* Ooh, suddenly, I appreciate football a whole lot more.

PAIGE: *Looking slightly more cheerful.* Oh, well I guess it can't be that bad...

GABRIELLE: *Laughing, watching Paige and Brynn turn to face the boys, she says to herself...* It's no wonder they don't play sports. They'd never be able to concentrate!

*The girls signal to the boys that they are ready after making a short, simple plan of action, and they set up.*

JOE: I got Brynn! *He winks at her, and she giggles.*

KEVIN: I'll get Paige!

NICK: *To Gabrielle.* So I guess I'm stuck with you, huh? *He smiles at her.* Well, let's see if you really are as good as you say. You wanna us to kick off?

GABRIELLE: Nah, that's okay. Gimme the ball, we'll do it.

*She reaches for the ball, but Nick holds it above his head, out of her reach.*

NICK: *Taunting her.* Only if you can get it.

*Gabrielle sticks her tongue out at him, and then leaps into the air, but misses. Nick laughs, playfully holding the ball even higher. As Gabrielle jumps pointlessly again, the ball disappears from Nick's hand. Gabrielle looks over and sees Paige standing, with the ball in her hand.*

PAIGE: So, are we ready to play, or are you two going to keep flirting?

*Nick and Gabrielle both blush.*

JOE: *Laughing.* Play ball! Wait... that's baseball. Oh well.

*He turns and the boys walk to their side of their newly created sand-field, while the girls walk to theirs. Gabrielle takes the ball back from Paige and kicks it all the way down to the boys. They catch it, looking amazed by her kick. Taking advantage of their momentary pause, the girls sprint towards them. Brynn attacks Joe, who has the ball. She jumps on his back just as he passes the ball to Kevin. Together, Brynn and Joe fall to the ground, cracking up. Meanwhile, Gabrielle guards Nick and prevents him from running anywhere. Because they are playing a slightly-altered game of football with only 6 players, Kevin is allowed to pass it to Nick and sprint down the field to receive it back. However, when the ball flies out of Nick's hand and toward Kevin, Paige gets an idea. Running up behind Kevin, she puts her arms around his waist and whispers in his ear.*

PAIGE: *Flirty whispering.* Hiiii Kevvviiiiiiiiinnnnnnnn!!

*Kevin, preparing to receive the football, doesn't notice Paige standing behind him, so when she snakes her arms around his waist, he freezes. He is so distracted by her whispering that the ball soars over his head and into Paige's now ready arms. She catches it and runs it all the way back down for a touchdown. When Kevin realizes what she did, he chases her all the way down the field, finally catching up to her when she has completed the touchdown. He picks her up and throws her over his shoulder, carrying her back to her own side of the field, despite her protests.*

KEVIN: *Laughing.* That wasn't nice, was it? Now it's payback time.

PAIGE: *Also giggling.* Kevin! Put me down! *Formally...* I demand that you put me now now, sir!

KEVIN: Hmm, sir? I like it. *Formally...* As you wish, my lady. *He lies her gently on the sand.*

PAIGE: *Looking up into his face, she says formally...* Why thank you my royal sir.

*They stare into each other's eyes, smiling.*

JOE: *Exasperatedly.* I am going to be ROYALLY sick. Can we get on with this game?

*Paige and Kevin jump, forgetting that the others were there. They quickly stand up, Kevin looking determined, Paige blushing.*

*The game continues for another fifteen minutes, with the girls putting up a good fight against the boys. Though they didn't win, the score wasn't that bad. In the end, the boys had eight points, and the girls had seven, five of them scored by Gabrielle alone.*
