Invisible Angels | ORIGINAL POEM

This poem is a little unusual in style for me. I was working on a love poem yesterday and all of a sudden, I got this one 'fly in'. I thought maybe I should share it straight away with you all :)

I dedicate it to all the single mothers (and fathers) out there and children everywhere that have to grow up too soon.

INVISIBLE ANGELS

"Why is your hand shaking, Mummy?
What is that tear in your eye?
Why are you trembling, Mummy?
Please Mummy, please don't cry

"I need you to be strong for me
I've never seen you weak
If anything happens to you, Mummy
What will happen to me?

"Will they take me far away
And I won't see you for a while?
Who will read me magical stories
Make believe with me
Give me beautiful, princess smiles?

"What can I do to help you, Mummy?
Why are you so alone?
How come they left you to struggle, Mummy?
Will we lose our home?

"Your face, it doesn't look the same
Your eyes are swollen and red
Please stop sobbing so hard, Mummy
Why do you look so scared?

"It'll be alright, Mummy
I know you can sort everything out
You're always telling me God is watching over us, Mummy
Have you forgotten that?
Do we need to pray together out loud?

"Please let me come and hug you, Mummy
See how nice it feels my fingers on your cheek?
It will all be alright, Mummy
Just give my little hand a big, tight squeeze

"There, there. You go to sleep now
I'll whisper you a song
And look after you, as you've looked after me
Together, we'll be strong"
