I lived in Ghana for 2 years, so I know more about Africa than most "African Americans." A colleague told me he went to Ghana convinced he was an African-American, and returned home knowing he is just plain American, 100%.

@MaahesHeruAmun I stand corrected. I'll own up to that -- but you can't legitimate racism, no matter who the racist is. My experiences in Ghana, as well as those of the black Americans who were there with me, were nothing like yours. My friends were treated as foreigners, just as I was. I think you imagine a racial affinity that isn't really there, just as many whites imagine an affinity with other whites. Reality is complex, but your take on life seems overly abstract and simplistic.
