the mountains are alot closer to the ends of the run way in hunduras, a plane that size can only climb at a certain rate. P.J. has nothing at one end and the mountains at the other are far enoough away they have enough alt and a gradual turn to the right to go around them.

I landed here on my honey moon in 2001 and yes it is an impressive accomplishment to land and take off here. These guys that come in and out of here have to be among the best I think. It was lots of fun to watch this the whole time we were there! And what a wonderful little piece of paradise!

@TeamLeftmatch777 what a lot of people dont understand is that the 747's and md11 flights are shared with other islands in the Region, they do not depart direct to europe they go to Bonaire or Curacao in the south take on more passengers and fuel and then head back to Europe. When they take off they only have limited fuel and small amount of passengers for the hour or so flight to the other islands understand now?

I'd love to stand on that beach and film them too. But I'd have to arrive to the island on a boat because no way, no how am I going to land at that airport! LOL!
