Forgive Me (The Last King of Scotland)

A Nicholas Garrigan video.

I am re-uploading this file because youtube pushed it out of sync the first time. Plus, I made a few edits.

It's not necessary to have seen the movie in order to understand the video, as the movie itself tells most of its story visually, anyway. It takes place as if Nicholas is on the plane leaving Uganda and realizing how much blood is on his hands, even if he didn't personally kill anybody. The video also looks at Idi Amin's enormous charisma, and how it seduces Nicholas. Gruesome scenes - well, extra gruesome scenes - have been left out because taken out of context they seem staged, and it's not fair to do that to the movie.

The quote at the end is from the first page of the book, and I thought it fit well. Again, seeing the movie is not necessary, but if you're unfamiliar on the side characters, it's worth reading an imdb summary. And you should see the film because Forest Whitaker is the scariest man alive. Total transformation.

Well done video-the torture scenes in this movie repulsed me. I usually don't watch movies with scenes like that. But the movie really captured the feel of what happened under Idi Amin. James looks so haunted in some scenes in this movie. I'm really hooked on him now.

It was such a scary, scary movie and James McAvoy did a very good job holding his own with Forest Whitaker - no small feat. He also made Nicholas repulsive and sympathetic at the same time, which was a real challenge! I'm pleased that you like the video!

The death of the Health Minister really broke my heart, the way he looked into the camera right before his off-screen death. He looks just like my father that I can't bear to watch that scene. I can watch poor Nicholas get brutally tortured on screen but I have to look away from the Health Minister's death stare.

This movie really got me hooked into James McAvoy. He made me feel sympathy and empathy for his unsympathetic character, the man is that talented. Brilliant work.
