Suite Of Old English Melodies (BBC2 1974-1975)

This quite lovely tape, which is nowhere as available as now, is what is called the Suite Of Old English Melodies which quite fantastically accompanies the BBC2 testcard as it was in service between July and December 1974 after which it was replaced firstly by Mini-Bataille, but after a fault had occurred with the tape on its first day's playing this new tape transferred across to BBC1, so this tape's replacement was Super Racing, the title track was repeated later on in Melancholic Rock over on BBC1 in July 1978. By the way, this tape replaced the Irving Berlin Medley.

This recording played throughout the early to late 1970's. It certainly had a longer life than 74/75.Not too English either..but one of my favourite recordings..normally on BBC1.

I remember the Hungarian March from Berlioz's Damnation of Faust.  Not exactly an English Melody but great nonetheless. It was on there I discovered this great tune !!!

Great music ... but the wrong tape! This is Mazurka which debuted on BBC 1 in July 1973!

Otherwise ... your efforts in uploading these tape samples are superb!
