Jill Watson & Peter Oppegard perform their freeskate from the 1988 Calgary Olympics to Finlandia/Madame Butterfly. Not the best quality recording, but will put up a better one when I find it.

the artistic impact of the first half of the program is stunning, the jumps the moves and lifts all work so well with the music, Finlandia, is a brilliant choice

They were the first to do that kind of death spiral and it was well received and highly creative and further expanded upon by future pairs included Sale-Pelletier. Watson and Oppegard were a terrific pair to watch, artistic and dynamic, and the best position and form on their death spirals and lifts.

Their side by side jumps look even more interesting when using opposite jumps. And their jumps are in sync and they are as close as can be safe since they would be rotating into each other, opposite jumping makes choreography a little more challenging and interesting to watch (The Jelineks of Canada (world champs of 1962) were opoosite jumpers too!

Even more than with the normal way, opposite foot jumps have to be exactly in sync, and theirs are not. The effect can be very cool if they stay close to each other, and move at the same time. What I don't like is the move where rather than a death spiral, the guy drags the girl along the ice behind him like a piece of meat.

I always think it looks less tidy when a pair don't jump off the same foot like these two. But thanks for uploading it!
