John talks about crime and particularly the tragic murders that have happened in the last two weeks. Young offenders are far too often at the centre of these tragedies and John talks about what National will do to deal with young offenders - and how National's programme will be different to the failed efforts of the Labour-led Government over the last nine years. "If I make just one promise to you, it will be this one," John says. "National's going to stop all the navel gazing ... we're going to get on and tackle some of the hard problems, deal with some urgency, do it with a plan and actually make a difference." He then acknowledges some of the commenters that have taken the time to share their thoughts about a vision for New Zealand, crime and the economy on his Facebook pages and his website, johnkey.co.nz.

  • @666blackened i hear ya, im a green voter, and yeah, the Nats have some good ideas, but, they dont help the lower earning families and people of this country, instead they focus on making rich people, richer, so sorry, not guna get my vote. ever.

  • I like turtles!

  • I will be voting for Nat but beware,Clark will get dirtier.I wish National would stop apologising for saying what they believe and stop backtracking.Nats need to push aside all the PC crap, push aside the carbon credit garbage and tell the people they will STOP running this country further down the left wing slide.Nats will increase votes if they would stop or finalise Maori payments, toughen the laws with crime, kick out the cancerous left wing plants that labour has in high positions.

  • He really does raise some good points here and on this issue i do completley agree with him. However lets not forget who this man is. I do not think he can be trusted, names like "Slippery John" and "The smiling assasain" are not pinned on anyone for nothing. On a personal vote National would not work for me and my family as a government. I work 10 hours five days a week and make bareley 30,000 a year. Nationals policies disreguard families like mine who are less fortunate.

  • yip - jails allow crims to have internet connections, cell phones, plasma tellys, sky digital telly and to my amazmnt!!!! golf putting greens!!! Its ACUTRLY a joke. Can u imagine saying to a rape victom.

Hey.. sorry to say your attacker - is now enjoying a plasma TV, heated floors, he still has his cell phone and he like to play golf every day at 3.. this is after his free meals and then likes to pop his heat up at 6 to wtch the news! Hes also getting out after 2 years of his 7 year sntnce!!

  • Go John you have my vote:)

  • Hes the man that cares people...this is a time for real change if helen does not screw it first, lolol

  • Furthermore, Poilice can work their arses off to catch criminals and then the courts let them off on technicalities and other petty bullshit, or sentence them for a nice short holiday in a 5 star prison hotel..... Our political correctness is biting us in the ass right now.

  • Regarding the police, I think they are trying their damn best. They must have the crappest jobs in NZ today. Thugs run around with shotguns while our police are hand slapped for using their pissy tazzers .

Give the cops guns and let them use it against those that take away the rights of others.

  • Crime needs to be addressed at its early beginnings.

When teenagers get away with crime then they will keep growing their criminal persona into adulthood. Backed up by a lame ass Justus system it can only spell what we are seeing in South Auckland now.

Come on people, as a teenaged I knew what was right and what was wrong so why should we let this little shits get away with it?
