Two Florida brothers are selling the contents of an eclectic private museum that includes antique cars, musical instruments and a carousel. The collection is expected to fetch $40 million at auction. (Jan. 30)
Hopefully, whomever purchases the items will keep them in a weather-proof buiding; in working order and in a place that is not prone to flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc..
These old musical instruments and carousels are expensive to keep in working order. The only people who know how work on them are professional restorationists (i.e. their services are not cheap)
It was open to the public. Apparently, they could not or did not want to keep it going. Many private museums have the same problem.
However, once a municipality, state or the federal government buys or accepts a museum; the taxpayers have to foot the bill. And, the property is off the tax roll.
Sometimes; even then, the museum must charge an admission fee to cover operating expenses.
Yeah. These are the folks we shouldn't tax very much, according to the Republicans. Sure.

Well, I'm sure that someone will buy up the whole lot in no time. Everything looks to be in pristine condition.
