Robin should have a show, but not normal talkshow. Just him, sitting in a chair with a couple of newspapers. he would read some news and we get to listen some great stuff about what's going on.

Unfortunately, that's the very reason why Robin couldn't be the host. Dave's real responsibility is to make sure the interview is entertaining; with Robin, he has nothing to do besides show up. But, if Robin were to interview a guest, each show would be less about the celebrity and more about Robin's stream-of-consciousness, night to night. Dave imbues humor when necessary, but allows the guest to flavor the dialogue. Since Robin can do both, he's given free reign. He isn't a host, though.
