The truth is, flashlight batteries do not last forever, and can be drained quickly in a variety of environmental circumstances such as cold, heat, moisture, etc. Signal fires can go out or potentially not be lit for whatever reason. One thing is for certain; when the time comes for rescue, you need to be sure you can send a strong signal to passing aircraft or land based search and rescue teams.

The lightweight and compact SOS has a protective plastic outer casing that remains attached by a 30 inch lanyard and acts as a handle. When the user spins the device, it forms a distinctive 4ft circle pattern visible up to three miles from the air and 1 mile on land. The SOS can be placed in a survival and emergency kits or vehicle.
