China's cheering volunteers -- 05 August 2008

The success of the Beijing games will depend in large part on an army of volunteers. Some 1.7 million of them will be doing everything from staffing information booths to presenting medals.

One dancer tells Al Jazeera how she got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to strut her stuff on the biggest global stage.

No as far as I know Aljazeera is banned in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and I belive a hand-ful of other nations

Both US Defence Spokesman Donald Rumsfelf, and former Saddam Hussien loyalist Tariq Aziz blamed Aljazeera for taking the "enemies" sides

Quit your belly aching, and stop accusing people of being out to get China...

Im a cheerleader for my school in Michigan and im Chinese. Not all chinese cheerleaders have un flattering bodies. and besides, you shouldnt be judging people on how they look, but on how they perform

I think something was lost in the translation or the ambassador was stupid. Was he talking about fixing up the walls in recent years? The Chinese schools do not teach kids that the wall was built by volunteers 2000 years ago.

In 2002 our high school teacher{history} took us to the Chinese embassy in Canada and we spoke to the ambassador so he told me {seriously LOL.} I know they were slaves and prisoners of war who build the wall.
