  • well, thats def true, but i doubt they get enough pressure to dig in all the way to the surface underneath the snow anyway, so wouldnt they try to grip the snow itself as well as possible?

    (plz dont take me as a hater, im just trying to figure out exactly y they do it)

  • Pressure= force / surface contact area

    This means that if you have a low surface contact area (as is the case in narrow tires) then you will have a lot of pressure on the studs to dig in the snow/ice, so better traction
