@ComedianDivo1 they are okay but like elena struggle

Are they serious? Are they serious? They're gonna let this screeching banchee play this career changing role. What the hell ALW smoking. After having Patti Lupone and Elaine Paige play this role to a T, you're gonna have this person take up the helm. Give me a frigging break!

I was excited for this to be coming back to broadway, but now that i hear this.... :(

@ruggerdgmail Are you sure they changed the keys for her? I checked the high notes in this song against a piano and they sound like E's to me, which I believe they were originally. Did they change any of the other songs?
Honestly, I almost wish they would--I'd rather hear a performer knock it out of the park in a lower key than struggle with a high one.

@ruggerdgmail I strongly suggest if you haven't done so yet to listen to the original concept album with Julie Covington. Another amazing performance and her voice is more similar to Roger than LuPone. I also agree with being able to criticize what you love. I do love LuPone and there are few that I would consider her peer but I did not really like her interpretation of Fantine in Les Mis. I would have to go with Randy Graff on that one.

@MasterKalani Actually Roger does not have comparable vocal range and does not sing the many of the keys in the notes they were written. Some of the high notes have been brought down to accommodate the different range but it is definitely keyed down. That is not opinion it is factual. That doesn't take away from her performance and to be honest I prefer listening to the Roger version over the Broadway cast. I cannot wait to see it when it comes back to Broadway.

@ruggerdgmail I think Roger does a fantastic job at reinterpreting the role in the revival. Roger has the vocal ability, though Patti did rock it. I am a huge Patti fan, but you have to be able to criticize what you love, and I'll be honest in my opinion that I feel that Patti was rough quite a bit, vocally, and I feel as though the part was overacted at times. I love Roger and LuPone both, they both brought somethihng fantastic to this show.
Love that Eva and Juan married in this production.

Wow comparing LuPone to Roger is almost laughable. Roger does not have the voice to handle the show in the notes or with the power as it was originally written.
LuPone was one of the few that could. I think Elena is a much better dancer and brings a fresh approach to the show. For all you purists Elena is closer to the original concept album with Julie Covington. Comparing the talent of these two very talented woman is pointless.

Wow. She sounds so thin through the high parts. This doesn't even touch Patti LuPone.

i love elena's accent!
Quast is impeccable.
