This film would be perfect but for the characterisation of Greg Crutwell's character. It's an abstract, surrealist performance in a realist film, it grates with the rest of the piece.

However, seeing as Leigh is clearly on the side of the workers, it does make sense to draw the Thatcherite bastard that broadly. You can't bring to fruition that which you don't fully understand, and I sure don't understand him!
