I am adding your videos to my favorites.

They sometime do ! I have videos of Hobson laying on the floor, allowing pups to play on him, pull his ears, tail, etc. and he stays delicate and soft with them ! You're right, wolves fight to keep males away from nest...
-
I had a golden bitch that allowed other dogs to sleep in her whelping box. BTW, female wolves don't even allow their mates to come near their newborns. So this really is something. I have known many male dogs that take a profound interest in puppies.

Usually, bitches don't let males come around... in rare cases, they trust the sire (like what you saw) and even share the cleaning process ! One after another, Hobson washed and then pushed gently with his nose puppies to the tits !

I can't get over watching him lick those puppies as they are born! I've noticed that golden bitches are much more tolerant around other dogs around their puppies than most other breeds-- jack russells won't even let you touch them.
That's also the first time I've seen a Duck Toller among goldens. They're quite different.
That's the one retriever breed I've never seen in person.

Tollers, quite different matter... Border Collie genetic behind makes them akward to work. They can sometime be very fossy and independent but hell of a fire ball in the field ! But... no way we could hunt Canada Goose with those !!!

I really like the speed and style of these dogs.
