In this video blog I discuss Bullfrog's Powermonger. I talk about what it did well and what it didn't do so well, and why Peter seems obsessed with creating little people.

  • This is my favorite game and I know everything about it :) Just ask what you need :D

My record on one of the maps: 267 troops :)

  • Ha! I knew there had to be a hardcore Powermonger fan out there somewhere!

  • That's true. That's the aspect of the game that I didn't show. It's just that I only had ten minutes (stupid YouTube). And the invention system is so tedious...you have little control over what you can actually make, they take forever to make and distributing your inventions is clunky since it uses the aggression buttons. And the only time you _have_ to use inventions is when you need to get your army to another island; then you'll need to make boats. That's why I left it out.

  • Well, it really needs a mouse. Both the SNES and Sega CD versions required the mouse for their respective systems. And since the modern consoles don't really care about mouse-based games, I'm thinking...probably never.

  • Thanks! :)

  • I agree. Glad you posted this video. I still play Power Monger on the Sega, and now I finally know that it's a stork bringing a new baby into town. I've wondered about that for quite some time.

  • The only problem with this game is that you just use a small portion of the screen for the main map where the game play is going on. This is an epic game, one of the great ones!

  • this game was the peak of my childhood

  • @SirRasor I think I know what you mean. I can't explain it either. For starters, I never really could or did, figure out how to actually play it, LOL. I wanted/tried to like the game, but just couldn't get into. That is coming from a guy who as played & bought nearly every RTS/War Strategy, etc (& a good many turn based) game, made between 1985 & now.

  • great review, glad you put this here

  • I only had this SNES version, and wish they make again .

  • @OBSysteme I tried it once, but I didn't like it, because..I don't know how to explain, but the whole game..something was not right. It just felt wrong.

  • One of the best games ever!
