Finally it was the Bangladeshis who fought the war we took the casualties and we won the war. yes India was a friend helping us than, but it was us at the front line. can you tell me how many Indians died Vs bangladeshis death toll in 1971. I am not denying India's contrib but merely pointing out who sacrificed to bring liberation to Bangladesh. Let us look forward not at the past, lets not repeat our mistakes instead lets learn from it, lets not still be divided & ruled like the colonial days.

If anyone thinks or believes indias act during 71 out of love for Bangladesh than he is being naive. Bangladesh 1971 liberation war was just after the 1965 war between india & Pakistan. india had a score to settle with Pakistan. Enemy of my enemy is my friend, thats why india helped during 1971. once the the war was over the indias support to bangladesh was also over. since than india has screwed bangladesh any which way they can.where was the love during the 1974 famine, & the floods.

These are simple examples the list is endless. In this day and age when country borders are dissolved for economic growth of the region, I mean EU . we continue spend our resources on fighting each other. you talked about Zia, remember that he was the first to realize this and initiated SAARC, long before EU. think where would Asia stand as one against EU or US think who would dictate terms.

yet the bottom line is they provided safe haven to many Bangladeshis who were facing persecution. For that We are Grateful. however, those days are long gone and Idias value system has changed. As now they are comfortable watching bangladeshis drown due to release of farakka dam during rainy season and total closure during summer. Now they are comfortable pricing rice and foods by 3 fold due to food crisis in Bangladesh despite international contract and lc issued and goods shipped to petrapol.

India helped in to help us they evacuated 93,000 pak army from bangaldesh so india did do alot.... but most of all the credit goes to bangladeshi people for giving us an identity and nationality which is BANGLADESH.

As a young person this issue is minor to me now. The major issue is- stop killing & raping our innocent people in the border area and protecting our sovereignty.
