I went metal detecting in another soy bean field today. There had been a one room schoolhouse there 60 years ago. I found lots of big iron pieces. I also found my first Barber half (1907), my first Indian head pennies (1887 & 1889) and two wheat pennies (1910 & 1941), Also found was a small Princess Pat lipstick from 1920-1940.

I was using my Minelab E-Trac in 2 tone ferrous, all metal. I knew that the tin and iron were junk before I dug them but I was curious. The junk weighed almost 10 pounds.

I had a great time today. The hunt took about 4 hours. I covered about 100' x 100'.

  • Wow you found some real nice things. Great Barber half that would have made my day alone. That curved piece you found looks like part of a sleigh or crotal bell. HH
