Not quite the same to say Madonna "copied" Monroe since Monroe had been long dead and was already an icon when Madonna did Material Girl. Madonna was trying to be Monroe "tongue-in-cheek", it was out there, obvious, a tribute even. But for a current artist to mimic another artist who is still alive, disguise it ever so subtly (and failing), and to deny ever copying - IS A TRAVESTY. (when one can just plainly admit the obvious)
