LISTEN UP! The string/fretnoise that is bothering some of you sensible individuals are due to a unplugged electro acoustic bass in a boomy room and amplified by the slight compression of the recording. Its not really an issue when its plugged in.
Having fun with ringing open strings, for some beautiful solo pieces.
In the example I use the A aolian scale (A B C D E F G), the A major scale (A B C# D E F# G) , The A mixolydian (A B C# D E F# G) and the D major scale (D E F# G A B C#)

  • nice ideas here. .. good tutorial ... kinda weird, I've been noodling that first minor scale open string drone riff in different variations for at least 20 years ...

  • I didn't realize you had a dog... that thing is annoying when you're trying to listen to the bass. :p

  • Very interesting knowledge. Thanks, man. :)

  • Nice!

  • a guy could restring his acoustic bass with flats or nylon for a fatter, rounder tone. Just saying

  • what acoustic bass is this?

  • @mindbodylightsound10 settle down bro... its an acoustic

    thanks very much ><

  • thank you aiways. You teach me how I can play with music.

  • @mindbodylightsound10 Lol if he took his fingers off completely it would be soo choppy haha your comment made me laugh

  • @mindbodylightsound10 I believe this sound is normal when playing acoustic bass and when gliding and moving around the strings.. i had the same thing with my acoustic

  • Marlowe, I acknowledge you're a talented bassist and educator but the excessive noise you make with your left hand by not lifting your fingers off the strings completely when you shift encourages young bassists to think that's an "alright" way to play the bass when it's really just sloppy technique.
