Alexandra - Beginning Chechen Scene

The Russian/Chechen movie, Alexandra, is a great movie about an old Russian woman visiting her grandson in his army camp in Chechnya.

This opening scene has two Chechen boys waiting for their train, whilst talking in the Chechen language. They see an old woman foreigner in their Republic, so they offer help to her to carry her bags.

She refuses and calls over the Russian guards asking the way to find her grandson. The guard then bothers the Chechen for cigarettes but the Chechen says he doesn't smoke.

Anyway, I just uploaded this clip cause I am obsessed with Chechnya and Chechen language and thought it'd be cool to share this scene. Listen closely to the Chechen dialogue.

I will try, been busy these days. But yeah when I free up some time I will try cropping some more scenes. It is a hard movie to find too, at least here in Iceland it was...

You have misinterpreted the scene: the chechen is offereing to carry her bag, but she doesn't need that, since she doesn't know where to go, so she asks soldiers directions to where her son-soldier is located in their military camp.

While one solier is answering her question, the other is not telling chechen to bugger off, but is asking him for cigaretes, and chechen says that he doesn't smoke.

@itzSandog They are an Iranian people as well (though they are ethnically Caucasus, their language is in the Indo-Iranian branch)

Well, their are many groups that are Caucasus, but that ergion has the most diverse ethnic combination in the world.. even for such a small area.

I was trying to sound it out and everything, but I'm not sure what you were trying to say. Where you trying to say that you would teach the language to a Chechen person? ..
