True to what MaxJenius said. Its unfortunate but that's what subbers and bittorent is for '3' and anyways I hear they tore up the previous macross series (aka US. Robotech) because it was too long or something like that and it wasn't as good as the original. So again I wont die if an anime never gets marketed to the US, there will always be alternatives.
The music is what makes the show so popular throught the world - and the thing that makes it hardest to create a sellable dub. Remember, English Fire didn't sell nearly as well.
Incorrect, those legal issues did not exist really prior to 2000ish when HG began remarketing RT again. The REAL reason for the lack of M7 in the west is plain and simple, MONEY. The music rights are apparently retardedly expensive, and cant have 7 without the music. I quote Keith Burgess of Manga Entertainment "It would take the combined resources of EVERY anime company in America to license this show". There is more money in the pool now, but who wants to take a chance on a 15 year old show
I suspect that it's more to do with creative issues than money. That is, they might be making the rights so expensive because they don't actually want to sell them. As BundSama said, it is the music that made the anime popular. Sadly, English dubs sell better in the USA, so they'd want to dub it. After what they did with RT's music. I shudder at what they'd do with Fire Bomber's songs in a dub.
Hmmm. If they used Basara's original voices, thick accents and all, it might work...? ^^b
