The Shooting of Bassem Abu Rahmah

On April 17th, 2009, Bassem Abu Rahmah was shoot dead during a peaceful demonstration against Israel's Wall in his village of Bil'in.
He was hit in the chest with a high velocity tear-gas projectile shot directly at him, and died of his wounds minutes after.
The village of Bil'in has been a site of weekly demonstrations against the barrier sin February 2005.

The victim seems to have lost consciousness within seconds, which leads me to believe that the impact disrupted his heart rhythm. This is called commotio cordis, and can be reversible by prompt use of a defibrillator, assuming there is not lethal associated physical damage. While the protestors may not have had a defibrillator, they could have started CPR or transported the victim immediately, rather than wasting at least 95 seconds shaking and fanning him. Brains are as important as guns.

Bassem died of internal bleeding. In this case CPR cannot help, but only make matters worse.

Bassem lost consciousness in seconds, implying an immediate and massive drop in blood pressure. Internal bleeding could cause this, but it would have to be of the extreme variety, like a ruptured aorta or some such. That is the sort of injury I tend to associate more with a penetrating wound. If this grenade can cause that level of blunt force trauma (on par with a severe car accident), then it should not be on the market at all.

This should not be used at all, nor other "non lethal" weapons that also severely injured and killed demonstrators and are used in order to oppress the just struggle against the occupation.
