http://www.logcabindirectory.com/ Log Home Directory editor escapes attack of giant red headed woodpecker... sort of. Possibly the worst part of log home living... is for the birds!
the woodpecker is only interested in insect, which means your post is infected with some kind of pest and it's only doing you a favor pointing it out to you.. It's not doing it for fun or wasting energy it's saying there's food in there..
Woodpeckers were the least of our concern with our cabin, we had a 5 year old male bear that thought it was his duty to naw away at the side of the cabin...well once the old man got a bear permit the problem was solved with a Ruger No.1 306! Now he is sprawled out on the hardwood floor in the form of a rug inside the cabin he was so hell bent on chewing and scratching on.
Holy crap! I have the same problem, they peck on mine while im trying to sleep in. I only see them in the morning, Sometimes I see 3 to 5 at a time. If I was awake enough I would shoot them.
@csiegert83 So what your saying is he actually did get inside? Maybe not the way he wanted to......

**TIP** Next time you put a maintenance coat of stain on your home, add pure cyan oil to it and wear appropriate protection.
