He is now eight going on nine and still loves to swim!

@conduirty I got some great film of Jordan today swimming under water. The only thing is he is nude and I want to make sure I use one that doesn't show too much! He is one to hate the clothes!

@conduirty I will let you know how it goes. thanks for the tips, Hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.

@jesspo2729 It's good to hear from you! The most important thing is to stop when things are not fun anymore. Take your time and if something is scary, stop. It's important for it to be fun and feel safe. Let him see you and others he cares about, swim as well, even if only in his peripherial vision.
Let my know how it goes!

@conduirty thanks for getting back, sorry it took so long to get back to you. but they just opened the pool by me and i remembered your video. I will definitely try some of those tips, he holds on to the side so maybe that will work well for him. yeah we are in Orange County NY and it is soooo hot up here, got up to 90's yesterday, and Jayson is so siked to go to the pool. Hope you and Jordan are well and enjoying the beginning of your summer.

I still have to tell him to rest or else he will just keep swimming!
I try to make it fun. Nobody wants a lesson like school. Getting the rest of my kids to blow bubbles in the water. Hold on the side and kick their feet. Jordan wouldn't hold the side and kick but he would kick in the water while watching. I wish you were near so we could spend the summer in the pool with the boys! This summer I'm going to have a stop watch and time him. He swims for long periods of time.

that's so awesome! My son Jayson is 8 he just started understanding breathing in the pool, like how to hold his breath and stop drinking all the water. I try to teach him to swim, but he's taking his time as our kids tend to do... any tips?
-
The swimming coach said I'll teach your other kids but not that one. I decided I'd teach my kids.
The thing that worked for us learning to swim is that we stopped when Jordan was ready to stop. If it's scary or school like, then my son isn't going to learn. It has to be fun and he is the one that gets to say when it stops.
