The Butterfly family Hesperiidae (otherwise known as the Skipper butterflies) is made up of small, strong flying butterflies with hooked, clubbed antennae. As caterpillars a lot of the Skippers feed on grasses. Due to their host plant and their small size, Skippers are rarely seen in their egg or larvae stage. With the aid of a microscope you will be able to enjoy the process as a Skipper goes from egg to first instar caterpillar.
