it would not be contained in a hadith, as these are stories of the ulema and Muslims after the Prophet's death/generation, for example the taibeen, and as she said, insha'ALlah you can check out the lecture by Dr. Saleh (ra) to find the reference,

A lecture is not a source... what book (of hadith) did this come from? If its a true narration there should be authentic sources to cite

it is indeed a true narration, all of these stories are based on authetic sources, and they are not made up stories about the salaf subhaAllah, you can find this same story also in a lecture by Dr. Sheikh Saleh as-Saleh (May Allah have mercy on him, ameen)
